Feel like you’ve officially tried #allthethings to lose weight, but the scale just isn’t budging?

HIIT workouts, the keto diet, weight loss shakes, hiring a personal trainer, juicing, getting a gym membership, the paleo diet, cardio, atkins, weight watchers, and the list goes on and on and on. Months, years, maybe even decades of blood, sweat, and tears poured into your weight loss journey, with very little to show for it.

I’m here because I believe in a different approach to weight loss than what 99.9% of “experts” are teaching, promoting, and recommending.

I believe that weight loss starts from the inside out — and I don’t mean nutrition and diet.

I mean your energy. Your thoughts, your beliefs, your mindset. Your emotions. All of these things inform your external actions and the reality you manifest, so it only makes sense that if you want to change your external world, you must first work on your inner one.

If you’re struggling to lose weight despite your best intentions and efforts, chances are, one of the three culprits below might be to blame. But don’t worry: I’ve included simple steps you can take today to fix them.

1. You’re focused only on your external actions.

If your mindset and energy aren’t on point, you’re essentially trying to “force” or “effort” your way to your dream body, which just doesn’t work. The inner work always must be done first before your external actions will have a big impact.

This is why everyone falls off with their New Years resolutions a few weeks into the year. Or why they lose a bunch of weight only to gain it all back in just a few months. Because they didn’t focus on changing their inner reality, only their external one.

All permanent, long-lasting outer change sprouts from a deep, inner change. In other words, the mindset and energetic work is the foundation upon which lasting changes to your physical body can be created.

The Fix

Do the inner work! Shift your attention away from all that external stuff — dieting, working out, counting calories — and instead, focus on what’s going on inside of you. Make a commitment today to shift your inner world before you ever try out another diet or exercise program. The next two tips will help you do that.

2. You aren’t aligned with your future self and dream body.

The most important thing you’ll ever do on your weight loss journey is learn how to energetically align with your dream body. Until you’re aligned with your dream body, can picture it in your mind’s eye, and trust that it’s on its way to you, it won’t be able to manifest.

Every day, ask yourself: the version of me who’s already lost the weight and already has her dream body — how does she act? What decisions does she make? What thoughts does she think and what does she believe to be true?

These are your new guidelines for living your life. Whatever your future self does, thinks, and believes, so do you. This is how you embody your future self and start drawing that version of reality into your current, present moment.

The Fix

An easy way to align your energy with your dream body is to spend 5-10 minutes every single day visualizing your future self in your dream body. Picture every inch of it in your mind’s eye in exquisite detail. Really connect to this vision, believing it to be true and your current state of reality, and let a wave of positive emotions like joy, gratitude, and inner peace wash over you while you visualize it.

3. You’re plagued with limiting beliefs about why you can’t lose weight.

Limiting beliefs are one of the biggest dream-killers when it comes to losing weight. Your thoughts and beliefs inform your actions, while also playing a huge role in manifesting your external reality, so it’s crucial that you get your beliefs on board with your goals.

Examples of limiting beliefs around weight loss are things like:

“Losing weight is super hard.”

“Being overweight runs in my family and there’s nothing I can do about it.”

“Even if I do lose weight, I’ll just gain it all right back.”

Essentially, any belief that isn’t serving you and empowering you to reach your goals is a limiting belief, and it needs to be replaced.

The Fix

Identify the limiting beliefs that are holding you back and slowing your progress, and eliminate them. Some great tools for overcoming limiting beliefs are positive affirmations, emotional freedom technique (EFT), and subliminal meditations.

Whether you use tools or not, the very best way to start eliminating your limiting beliefs is to simply decide that you’re willing to see things in a different way; that although these beliefs have been around for a long time, they aren’t your personal truth. You can choose a new truth and start telling a new story about how easy, effortless, and fun weight loss is for you — and when you do, that’s the reality you’ll manifest.
